The Mummy and Daddy Christmas Present Fund is a novel I wrote in 2007, after my mother died. My father had died the previous year.
I based it on a diary I had written when I was 13 and re-examined the relationship I had with my family growing up.
Although some of the novel is based on truth (including the diary), much of it is made up and uses character versions of myself and my family. I also tried to find some answers to several of the sometimes strange decisions my parents seemed to have made in their lives. And in the novel, I gave my father a fictional love interest.
